How did you get started in Ice Sculpting?
I started carving ice as a culinary instructor in order to teach the students ice carving

How many years have you been sculpting ice?
24

What is your most memorable sculpture? And any short story why it was your most memorable.
My most memorable carving was robo shark. It was a single Alaskan big block turned into a giant robotic shark. There was a little cartoon fish behind it making it chase another cartoon fish in front of it.

Have you received any notable awards or recognition in your carving career?
I was on the 2015 world champion team lead by Junichi Nakamara. It was a giant dragon fighting a soldier. Called fighter

Most memorable location you've carved at?
Alaska is always memorable but Lake Louise by far has the best backdrop for ice carving.

As a pumpkin carver the most memorable place I carved is the white house

Is there a particular type of subject or theme that you like to carve?
I like for my sculptures to tell a story. Lots of them are fun and whimsical.

What do you enjoy most about participating in ice sculpting competitions?
I feel like Competition brings out the best in me. But the best part is the interaction with the crowds as well as other carvers.

What advice would you give to someone new to ice sculpting?
Have fun and try to learn at every competition. Your competing against yourself as much as other carvers.
